Shanghai, China (November 22, 2011) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Over the next ten years, the Chinese government will invest more than Yuan 100bn (US$15bn) in subsidising the country's industry and infrastructure for environmentally friendly and alternative fuel vehicles. Around Yuan 60bn will be invested in developing energy-saving technologies, with the remaining funds to be used for the creation of an infrastructure capable of supporting energy saving vehicles in certain cities. The Chinese car industry is maturing and follows other big manufacturers in their investment on electric mobility. The state supports this move by having set an official goal of 500,000 Chinese plug-in hybrids and electric cars produced by the end of 2011. To facilitate this goal, China launches a nationwide programme to install large electric vehicle charging stations. China is on track to lead deployment of this infrastructure in the coming years.

According to MIIT Telematics has been listed as one of the major project in China during the 12th Five-Year Plan period. The future investing will foucs on automotive electronics, information and communication and software solutions. It is expected that total market value of China Telematics industry will be more than 10billion USD and China will be the largest market for telematics services. However the telematics segment in China is still far from fully developmed owing to the lack of industry involvement and integration. Especially, the progress of consumer telematics development is laggard in China.

China 2012 Electric Vehicle Forum garthering 200+ OEMs, Enterprise decision makers and China government officers, focusing building Chinese style sustainable EV infrastructure , Telematics technology, and strategic plan.

We building a precious communication platform of technology exchange, business partnership and market development.

Shanghai, China (November 04, 2011) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — The world leading luxury hotel brand InterContinental Hotels and Resorts kicks off its Responsible Business Week on October 24 in Greater China. The one-week initiative is designed to celebrate the InterContinental hotels' achievements and on-going efforts to make a world of difference by sustaining and enhancing their local destinations.

Driven by its "In the Know" brand positioning, InterContinental is committed to bringing authentic travel experience to its guests by sharing local knowledge of all that is special about their hotel destinations. And, through a partnership with the National Geographic’s Center for Sustainable Destinations that began in 2009, InterContinental hotels and resorts around the globe have been required to conduct business responsibly by taking actions to respect and protect the destinations’ unique nature, heritage and communities.

Building upon a one-day event last year among employees, InterContinental extended the Responsible Business celebration to one full week by involving guests and the public from across the globe to call for cooperative efforts in protecting and preserving destinations.

The theme for Responsible Business Week in Greater China this year is "Preserving City Memories", which pays homage to the Chinese cities where the 21 InterContinental hotels and resorts are located.

"InterContinental shares with our guests an abiding belief that the most enriching and rewarding travel are derived from authentic experiences," said Keith Barr, chief executive officer of IHG Greater China. "China has such incredibly rich and diverse heritage, and we at InterContinental Hotels and Resorts are so proud to be a part of that, to bear the responsibility of preservation and to encourage more people to join in our efforts."

From October 24th to 30th, all 21 InterContinental hotels and resorts in Greater China celebrated with a series of activities designed to raise awareness of the need to preserve and cherish local heritage.

Responsible Business Week initiatives that have been carried out by InterContinental Hotels and Resorts in Greater China include

InterContinental One Thousand Lake Resort – The hotel brought guests to watch the "Bamboo Horse Dance", a traditional art form since the Ming Dynasty.

InterContinental Shenzhen – The hotel sent staff to Da Peng Gu Cheng, a protected historic village built in 1394, to encourage travelers to join in the efforts to preserve it. It also hosted lectures for hotel guests regarding the preservation of the local mangrove forest and about the birds that inhabit or migrate there every year.

InterContinental Hong Kong – Employee volunteers took 30 children from an orphanage for a visit to the Hong Kong Wetland Park, a world-class ecotourism facility. A "Bedtime Story" card on the park was produced to add to the hotel's current selection of the "In the Know" programme available for hotel guests.

InterContinental brand's efforts were recognised this year when it received a Leadership in Engineering and Environmental Design (LEED) endorsement for Green Engage, an innovative online environmental tool to help hotels monitor, reduce and manage energy as well as water and waste, and awarded the UK Carbon Trust Standard for showing genuine carbon reduction.

Beijing, China (October 28, 2011) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Shangri-La restructured its signature Golden Circle (GC) loyalty programme a year ago to allow both staying and non-staying guests to earn and redeem Golden Circle Award Points (GC Award Points). Since the relaunch, the awards programme has attracted more than 288,000 new members, bringing the total membership to over 2 million guests who have earned more than 635 million GC Award Points in the year. Golden Circle now includes over 500,000 members from mainland China.

"I believe it is safe to say that the success of the new Golden Circle programme has exceeded our own expectations and we are particularly pleased to see so many of our Chinese guests joining," said Wee Kee Ng, director of corporate loyalty and partner marketing. "The feedback we have been given is that our guests appreciate that we recognise and reward them every time in every Shangri-La hotel, resort, Kerry or Traders hotel no matter whether they are staying in the hotel or not." To mark the anniversary of the enhanced Golden Circle, Shangri-La announced the launch of the new exclusive members' magazine, Inner Circle, on 25 October 2011.

Inner Circle is an interactive multi-language magazine website www.innercircle.shangri-la.com, which provides travel inspiration and insider knowledge on the ultimate Shangri-La destinations through travel features, interviews and news. Linked to a monthly e-newsletter, the site aims to provide a new means of regular communication with members of Shangri-La's Golden Circle. With user commenting areas across the site and live feeds into social media platforms, Inner Circle allows members to share their travel experiences and recommendations.

Divided into six sections, the site provides the latest travel tips to inspire even the most seasoned globetrotters.

News: The news section provides regular communication with Golden Circle members, on topics such as new hotel openings, awards, information on the latest refurbishments, benefits and special announcements from Shangri-La hotels and resorts across the globe.

Destinations: Every month, the destination section provides readers with insights into new travel destinations – from exploring the jungle with orang-utans in Borneo to shopping for modern art in Shanghai.

Inspiration: The inspiration section seeks to provide readers with a new take on a well known destination – focusing every issue on travel-related passions (such as gourmet experiences, adventure pursuits or health and wellness retreats) and seeking insider information from people in the know. Therefore, whether editors are quizzing the chef at Shangri La Hotel, Paris about the ultimate gourmet experience or trekking with mountaineers in Guilin for a genuine adrenalin rush, this section seeks to inspire readers to broaden horizons and explore their interests.

Top 10: The Top 10 section is an area where readers can browse for their next adventure. Leveraging the imagery from all Shangri-La, Kerry and Traders hotels across the globe, every issue this section features a rundown of 10 amazing sites, sounds or experiences, providing a place for readers to "window shop" for their next Shangri-La destination.

Your Circle: Your Circle provides the interactive heart to the Inner Circle website, where Golden Circle members can share their own travel stories.

Members are encouraged to submit their travel articles and photography to this area, and every month, two contributors (one English-language submission and one Chinese-language submission) are published on Inner Circle and win a complimentary two-night stay in an Executive Suite at one of the Shangri-La group's hotels.

Heart Talk: The renowned travel writer Siew Hoon Yeoh is an integral part of Inner Circle with her travel column Heart Talk, where she shares her monthly musings in a one-woman mission to spread her love of travel as she treks across the globe.

Inner Circle is accessible to non-members on a "read only" basis. For commenting and feedback, readers are invited to join Golden Circle, which is free and open to anyone over the age of 18. To join, visit Golden Circle's dedicated website, www.goldencircle.shangri-la.com, where members can also manage their profile, set their preferences, check and redeem points.

Shanghai, China (October 27, 2011) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — The Radisson Blu Hotel Pudong Century Park breaks the mould of the archetypical business and leisure hotel. The Hotel is refreshingly different in every possible way, from minimalistic design concept to Art hospitality philosophy, right down to the chinaware. The immediate impression is one of pure artistry, reinforced by commissioned modern art pieces and 8 themed art exhibitions since 2009. This different approach to upscale accommodation has been achieved without compromising the renowned "Art Hospitality" of the hotel.

Shanghai, as one of the biggest cities in the world, millions of erected walls comprise here forming an indistinguishable cityscape ultimately conforming to an audacious skyline of graffiti art. The most prominent and large scale place for graffiti is Moganshan Lu, a famed road with all kinds of art and galleries by wonderful artists around the world. Unfortunately, the Moganshan Lu graffiti wall will be demolished by the end of the year. But, the end of the Moganshan Lu is not the end of graffiti art in Shanghai. The hotel believes that graffiti art can take place anywhere. After successfully organized 8 art exhibitions, from contemporary Chinese to Dali in the hotel, the Radisson Blu Hotel is now offering a new platform for those artists who are wandering around the city seeking for a new "Moganshan Lu" . Mr. Paul Conquerel, a prolific French graffiti artist resident in Shanghai, has been commissioned to create inspiring graffiti art for the hotel's parking area, which will result the hotel in another eye feast with intense color and thought provoking visions for the hotel guests.

Also, upon the arrival of the Christmas season, the hotel is excited to introduce "Graffiti Art Christmas" which forms part of the graffiti art curriculum. Cozy wooden huts in the probably only traditional Christmas Village in Shanghai with inspiring decorations and a modern touch of graffiti art are a great treat for this year’s Christmas season. Walk throughout the hotel to see large Graffiti art areas showing Christmas themes, the merrymaking and joy starts not just here, be seated around the table in one of the Christmas houses and enjoy your Cheese fondue, dip the bread in the melted cheese and take pleasure in this traditional Swiss feast with your friends in a real artistic Christmas atmosphere, the perfect stage for organizing your Christmas parties or personalized Christmas bazaars.

This special graffiti art program will set a unique ambience for the whole hotel with a great visual impact, inviting guests to discover the spirit within. Experience all this unique hotel has to offer with stylishly designed concept graffiti and art hospitality of the Radisson Blu Hotel Pudong Century Park.

Beijing, China (September 20, 2011) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — – Hilton Hotels & Resorts hosted a national launch event for Hilton Huanying on September 7, 2011 – its tailored experience for all travelers of Chinese origin. The Hilton Worldwide program inspired by the Chinese word for "welcome" enables travelers to book participating hotels with confidence, knowing the properties will meet cultural needs and expectations of Chinese travelers abroad. Fifty hotels in twelve countries representing top destinations for Chinese travelers currently offer the program.

In developing Hilton Huanying, Hilton pairs its expertise as the global leader of hospitality and more than two decades of experience in China with research; feedback from Chinese guests, travel agents and tour operators; and a beta test in the United Kingdom, United States and Korea. Hilton leaders are touring Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou this week as part of a sustained campaign to educate Chinese consumers and tour operators about the new Hilton offering.

"Hilton Huanying is an extension of our brand promise to ensure every guest feels cared for, valued and respected," said Dave Horton, global head, Hilton Hotels & Resorts. "This is an incredibly exciting time for our brand as we grow our presence within China and welcome the growing number of outbound Chinese travelers exploring key destinations around the world."

Considered widely as one of the world's fastest-growing economies and leading hospitality markets, China will achieve 83 million outbound departures with an average annual growth rate of 9% according to the statistics from China National Tourism Administration.

"As the association of tourist hotels in China, we have paid close attention to the initiatives and development of the international hotel groups targeting Chinese travellers, and I'm pleased to notice that Hilton continues its innovative approach to products, amenities and service to meet the unique needs of Chinese travellers," said Mr. Zhang Rungang, Chairman of China Tourist Hotel Association. "Hilton Huanying, based on a deep understanding of Chinese culture and lifestyle, provides thoughtful amenities and dedicated services for Chinese tourists during their stay overseas. It’s the real tailor-made 'welcome' red carpet rolling out for Chinese travelers outside of China."

Hilton Huanying extends authentic experiences with amenities, service standards and dedicated Hilton team member training in destinations popular among Chinese visitors including San Francisco, New York City, Hawaii and Vancouver in North America along with London, Tokyo and Sydney. Chinese travelers will find familiar comforts in three key touch points of the on-property experience – arrival, guest room and breakfast at Hilton. Elements of the Hilton Huanying experience include a front desk team member fluent in Mandarin; guest room amenities such as a selection of Chinese teas and teakettles, slippers, and a dedicated television channel with Chinese programmes; and breakfast items including congee, dim sum, fried rice and noodles. Travelers can now visit www.hilton.com/huanying to view more details about Hilton Huanying.

Hilton Worldwide continues its rapid expansion in China and is scheduled to have 100 properties operating in China within the next five years, 40 of which are in the Hilton Hotels & Resorts portfolio. The company's flagship brand currently has 11 hotels in China and recently opened two properties in Guangzhou and one property in Xi'an. Additional Hilton Hotels & Resorts properties are scheduled to open in Nanjing and Dalian by the end of this year.

Mainland Executives are also the most hardworking on their travels.

Shanghai, China (August 22, 2011) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Accor has revealed the findings of its Accor Asia Pacific Business Traveller Research 2011, which seeks to better understand the travel and behavioural preferences of business travellers based in Asia Pacific. The survey interviewed over 10,000 respondents who made business trips in the first half of this year. Of these, close to 2,000 of the business travellers surveyed were executives based in Mainland China, with 3 in 4 business travellers being male.

Based on data collected, Hong Kong SAR (73%) is the leading destination for Mainland Chinese business travellers, with Singapore and Thailand coming in second and third with 25% and 22% respectively. In terms of outbound travel, executives from Mainland China (8.7 trips), were the most frequent travellers in the first half of 2011,followed by India (7.3 trips) and Singapore (7.1 trips). Moving into the second half of the year, Mainland Chinese business travellers are expected to remain top of the list increasing to 9.2 trips, with Singapore (6.9 trips) and India (6.7 trips) swapping positions as second and third.

Said Mr. Evan Lewis, Vice President Communications – Asia Pacific, "The sheer number of business trips made by Mainland Chinese business travellers can be possibly attributed to the importance of "Guan Xi" or positive interpersonal relationships as a crucial element for business dealings. An observation which supports this hypothesis is that 51% of Mainland Chinese respondents travel for external company business such as sales and client visits. This exceeds that of Singapore business travellers who are second, with less than half (46%) making trips for such a purpose."

Chinese executives from the Mainland are the second most budget conscious (US$99), behind Indonesian business travellers (US$92). Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mainland China has one of the highest incidences of domestic only business travel (25%), behind only Australia (34%) and New Zealand (26%) business travellers. Like other Asia Pacific business travellers, executives from the Mainland choose hotels mainly due to location (43%). Other key factors which influence their choice of accommodation include loyalty points accrual (29%) and having a positive experience on their previous stay (26%).

Mainland Chinese business travellers top the chart in terms of their environmental consciousness with 91% of the business travellers surveyed willing to choose a hotel which is more environmentally conscious ahead of a similar standard hotel in the same location. The same percentage of executives were also willing to pay a premium for a hotel with a superior environmental commitment.

From the perspective of inbound travel, Mainland China is most popular amongst business travellers from the Hong Kong SAR (79%), followed by Singapore (44%) and Malaysia (35%) business travellers in the first half of 2011. Overall, respondents from the research cited China's Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong and Singapore were the most popular business destinations (38% each), with Thailand (29%) third. Mainland China was a close fourth with 28%.

In terms of the most hardworking business travellers, the research suggests that Mainland Chinese (82%) and Singaporean (82%) business travellers are the most diligent, working most often in the hotels whilst travelling for business. The most popular time slot for work is from 21:00 to Midnight (52%). Based on their relatively longer working hours, only 49% of Mainland Chinese business travellers use the fitness centre and 29% of them use the spa. This contrasts with the overall findings from the research, which has found that 53% of Asia Pacific's business travellers use the hotel's fitness centre and 36% them go to the spa facilities at the hotel.

From these observations, it can be deduced that the typical Mainland Chinese business traveller is on the road most often than his Asia Pacific peers. This executive is most typically male who travels an average of between 8.7 to 9.2 trips every half year (which adds up to an average of a whopping more than 17 trips in a year. He also works most dutifully (82%) at the hotel during business travel as compared to other Asia Pacific business travellers, especially from 21:00 to Midnight (63%). So much so, that the typical Mainland Chinese business traveller hardly has time to enjoy any of the recreational facilities at hotels (as compared to his Asia Pacific peers). This extraordinary work ethic of Mainland Chinese business travellers could potentially be attributed to the ingrained culture which places a great emphasis on hard work.

Accor and Sina Jointly Launch Healthy Survey for "Sustainable Travel Accommodation"

Shanghai, China (June 14, 2011) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Accor, Europe’s largest hotel group announces that it has launched a new dedicated online column, which will bridge Accor and consumers through surveys, video presentations, online forums, and so on. The column themed "Sustainable Travel Accommodation" was jointly launched with the travel channel of China’s major portal website Sina, and had just completed its kick-off program with a survey responded to by more than 2,400 frequent travelers in two weeks. It turns out more than half of them are from China’s biggest cities Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. 80% of the respondents have travel experience in the past six months, and 90% of respondents have stayed in hotels.

"Of course, knowledge about customers is crucial for any hotel operator. Accor however, with its global industry leadership, has a greater responsibility. We need to provide industry insights and this initiative will help us to group frequent travelers thoughts and opinions " said Robert Murray, Senior Vice President of Accor Greater China. "The launch of the Accor-Sina online column will surely lead to a better understanding of our customers' needs and habits here in China. We hope the public will find the results informative and stimulate thinking on how travel and tourism can become more sustainable as well as focusing on health, and charitable activities."

The first survey seeks to learn about how Chinese travelers value their health. Overall, nearly 80 percent of the respondents have concerns about different health issues experienced while traveling. Initial findings show balanced health priorities are given to aspects like sleeping quality, mental status, and dietary fitness.

Whatever the purpose of the journey, travel is expected to offer relaxing experiences for most. But that’s not necessarily true with the findings this time, as more than half of the respondents, 56.3% to be exact, report different levels of fatigue during their travels. Contributors to fatigue include tight schedules, bad weather, aircraft delays, unfamiliar surroundings, concern of accidents and jetlag. More surprisingly, 94.2% of the online voters admit they sleep less than eight hours per day when traveling. While some factors of travel fatigue may also affect their sleeping quality, nearly half of them conclude that they may not sleep well if the hotel mattress or pillows are of inferior quality.

In terms of dietary health, 97.5% of the survey participants, an overwhelming proportion, say they’re quite concerned about having a healthy, balanced diet when traveling, as well as 89.4% of the respondents consider orders of organic food a great option when staying in hotels. The survey has also found nearly 80% of the respondents will choose to have breakfast at hotels.

Other travel health aspects surveyed include fitness centers, smoking and drinking habits. While it is a good sign that 92% of the respondents are interested in the hotel fitness centers, the findings are a little discouraging that more than a third (37.7%) will request a smoking room, and nearly half will choose to drink when traveling.

On the findings, Mr. Murray commented: "This survey is just the first step for our new online column, and more will follow to inspire both Accor and our Chinese customers. By focusing on concrete aspects of travel accommodation and hotel services, we will better understand guest’s expectations in regards to health, the environment and charity. We will value the survey findings and respect opinions and suggestions from our guests."

For nearly 45 years, Accor has constantly reinvented its businesses to keep pace with the world around it, with the goal of providing innovative, high-quality products. It is pleased and proud to provide travelers with the solution best adapted to their needs and a guarantee of the highest quality of service.

Marriott International Pledges to Continue its Support for Fresh Water Conservation in China.

Sichuan, China (May 25, 2011) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — A high-powered delegation of Marriott International executives led by President Arne Sorenson recently visited the Pingwu County of Sichuan Province in China to see for themselves the first-year performance of its "Nobility of Nature"
programme – an ambitious fresh water conservation programme. The Marriott senior executives acknowledge that it is essential to build on the project's current success and provide bigger support to the fresh water conservation endeavors of China.

Announced in Spring 2010 at the World Expo Shanghai, the "Nobility of Nature" is a collaboration between Marriott International and Conservation International to support fresh water conservation and assist rural communities with sustainable business that put less stress on the environment.

Marriott International has been investing USD500,000 seed money to the "Nobility of Nature" programme. The fund is used to provide grants, training, resources and community development for local villages in Sichuan Province where the world's largest water source is located. The Guanba Village in Pingwu was one of the first sites to receive the support of "Nobility of Nature". The funding helped provide bee hives, state-of-the-art bee farming knowhow and other infrastructure for the Guanba Bee Farming Cooperative.

Heritage of Serving Communities
The members of the Marriott delegation include Arne Sorenson, Asia Pacific President and Managing Director, Simon Cooper; Asia Pacific COO Craig Smith; Regional Vice President – Marketing, Dominic Sherry; Executive Vice President Global Communications & Public Affairs, Kathleen Matthews and Managing Director of JW Marriott Hotel Beijing Robert Fabiano, as well as eight associate representatives from the Marriott hotels in mainland China and Hong Kong. The group visited the Guanba Village as well as the Wanglong wild panda conservation park in Pingwu.

"As I travel the world, I see how important social responsibility is to our guests, customers, associates and of course to our communities," said Sorenson. "The Nobility of Nature programme in China is a great example of this approach. Marriott International extends its 'Spirit to Serve' concept practiced in our hotels for some eight decades, to embrace the integration of social responsibility and sustainability in our business strategies."

Sorenson added that it was important to engage eight associates from Marriott hotels in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Guangzhou and Hong Kong in this visit. "They will become the ambassadors of the Nobility of Nature to promote the importance of water conservation to their colleagues, guests, family members and friends," he continued.

Sweet Taste of Success
For generations the bee farmers of Guanba village adopted the traditional methods of bee farming which were not very efficient. For instance, a bee hive could only produce 10 kg of honey a year. In addition, the farmers could only sell the honey to local wholesaler at a cheap price of about RMB16 per kg because of a lack of marketing know-how.

With the assistance and grant offered by the "Nobility of Nature" programme, the Guanba Bee Farming Cooperative replaced most of the old-fashioned one-piece type of bee hives with the advanced multi-slide ones. The new hive can produce 20 to 25kg of honey every year.

The Cooperative has also appointed a full-time patrol inspector to ensure that the water resources nearby are well protected. According to its farmers, clean water is pivotal to the well-being of floral plants which in result will lead to quality honey. The Guanba honey is made from some 15 different kinds of flowers and is sweeter than those produced in other areas.

In order that the Guanba honey can be marketed at a price that matches with its exceptional quality, Marriott International advised the Cooperative to apply for organic food certification last summer. It also invited Wuxi Chengbao Foods Co. Ltd, Marriott International’s preferred juice vendor in China, to support this initiative. Chengbao offered the Cooperative with counsel on certification application and helped design a trendy packaging for the Guanba honey for free.

In October 2010, the Guanba honey in a brand-new outlook was available for retail sale in the entire hotel network of Marriott International in China. The newly designed packing of Guanba’s honey features a stylish jar, a wrapping strip highlighting its 100% organic nature, as well as a tag that details the story of Nobility of Nature and the Guanba Bee Farming Cooperative.

"Marriott International has an enormous network of some 60 hotels in China, more importantly, our guests also support sustainability. Through marketing the Guanba honey in our hotels, this helps ensure our first Nobility of Nature project a huge success," said Simon Copper. "It turns out that our guests are very pleased to take part in this meaning initiative, and enjoy this sweet, 100% organic and quality honey."

The proceeds of selling the Guanba honey in Marriott hotels are used to provide further support to the development of the Cooperative. When meeting the Marriott International senior executives, the Guanba villagers had a nice surprise as they were told that part of the proceeds would be used to purchase a truck for them. The truck will bring a lot of mileage in increasing the operation efficiency of the Cooperative.

Marriott International and Conservation International are now reviewing the application of a second project target to be supported by the "Nobility of Nature" program.
