Singapore (November 17, 2008) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Asia's first comprehensive two-day conference on Anti-Monopoly & Competition Law, being held from 24-26 February 2009, will provide you with all of the background, legislation, practical advice and policy ideas that you need to be able to limit your exposure to complaints under the new Anti-Monopoly Law regime.

Anti-Monopoly & Competition Law Asia Forum has been specially devised for in-house lawyers advising on competition law matters. Penalties for breaching competition law can be severe and you need to be sure that you are up-to-date with concepts such as legal privilege, cartels, pricing and dominant position, dawn raids and the role of economics in competition law.

For those new to the area, the conference will give you a comprehensive overview of the new laws being implemented in China and Asia, plus explore how these impact the running of your business and what your internal clients should know.

Hear from experts based in regions with established antitrust rules and discover how they have written compliance policies that have safeguarded them from actions under Anti-Monopoly Law.
Huizhou, China (November 6, 2008) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Following the hot summer, the hotel market of Xunliao Bay in Huizhou would enter a low season for the second half year as before. With the winter days drawing nearer, how will the high level Sheraton Huizhou Beach Resort with subtropical theme change this situation for the global economy in current depression circumstances? Today, Sheraton Huizhou Beach Resort welcomed its first group meeting of multinational company EPCOS in the autumn-winter season. Developing in the Pearl River Delta and targeting international conferences have become a brand new operation mode in Xunliao Bay.

EPCOS was floated simultaneously on the Frankfurt and New York Stock Exchanges on October 15, 1999. The listed company emerged from Siemens Matsushita Components, a joint venture founded in 1989 by Siemens and Matsushita. Since March 2003, EPCOS has been one of the largest companies in the TecDAX index of German technology stocks. This time in Sheraton Huizhou Beach Resort, the company has held an expansion meeting of all teams in Great China region.

The company's organizers said that an international company has lots of group meetings every year, and EPCOS selected Sheraton Huizhou Beach Resort considering specific factors such as traffic, environment and facilities. If the company chose a hotel in Sanya or Bali, the expenses for round-trip flights and meeting space rental under the same conditions as Sheraton Huizhou Beach Resort would not be the best choice under the entire economy circumstance at present. An effective meeting and brand services with persistence and high efficiency are vital to a company, and it can ensure all participators rejuvenate themselves and improve team coordination, thus to get more effective communications and cooperation through a group meeting. The high-quality meeting facilities and environment offered by Sheraton Huizhou Beach Resort can quite meet our requirements. There are a total of 172 persons participating in this meeting, and all of them showed active involvement and attitude toward the meeting held in the seaside area.

The management of Sheraton Huizhou Beach Resort said that it will take advantage of its international brand image and strong sales network to develop in the Huizhou market, and the winter in South China seems like a spring for the northern area so that it is not a bad choice to hold a meeting here. Due to international economy depression, our resort is also the first choice for the companies that require a high quality and low cost meeting. The facilities include a large ball room, a spa, a beach, a golf course, a tennis field, sea fishing, a hot spring, bicycling, and a traditional village. To keep a pure natural seaside environment has become a supporting factor to host an international group meeting. Meanwhile, the expansion of corporate meetings has also changed the market situation of Xunliao Bay in winter.

Shanghai, China (November 5, 2008) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — The American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai) announced the 2008 Award winners today at its 4th Annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conference. Along with CSR awards honoring corporations, small businesses and Chinese companies, AmCham Shanghai recognized collaborative CSR programs created through partnerships between companies and non-profit organizations.

The 2008 winners were selected from a strong field of 50 projects and 37 companies, both large and small. The award winners this year were judged according to rigorous criteria developed with assistance from RepuTex, an Australia-based Social Responsibility Index rating company. The Chamber used indicators and factors from the RepuTex Benchmark to assess applicants' achievements in corporate governance, environmental impact, social impact and workplace practices. The evaluation process recognized effective arrangements created to manage CSR programs, as well as effective partnerships.

This year's competition showed a consistent improvement in the understanding and implementation of CSR in China. Compared with previous years, a growing number of companies have developed mature programs with comprehensive strategies and structures to integrate corporate governance, community outreach, environmental stewardship, and employee health and safety into their core businesses.

As the first place winner this year, Intel demonstrated extraordinary CSR practices and proved strong across the board in all categories, said this year's awards panel. Intel took "CSR into the core of the Intel spirit, fully integrated their core values into their products to provide consumers with better, cheaper products while decreasing their eco-footprint, and worked with industry, standards-making bodies and suppliers on environmental issues," said the panel.

This year's CSR conference and awards, themed "Corporate Citizenship for Today and Tomorrow," aimed to showcase leading companies who are doing outstanding CSR work in China and provide guidance and support for other organizations with developing their own CSR efforts. The conference also examined issues regarding the implementation and communication of CSR programs and issues in China and the implications of an effective CSR strategy in today's global society.

The AmCham Shanghai CSR Committee Chair, Diane Long, emphasized the need for American companies to set a leading example by demonstrating various aspects of corporate citizenship. "CSR is an issue that should be on the table and integrated as a core part of the strategic decisions a company is making. American companies have an important role to play and many have helped establish what the measurements and targets should be for corporate citizenship," said Long. "It will be the young people today who are educated in the needs of CSR who will one day lead major Chinese companies and bring the concept of corporate citizenship to the forward line of Chinese companies."

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (October 29, 2008) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Growing business in a complex environment, leading enterprises to innovate and using technology for innovation were the key themes of discussion at the annual Frost & Sullivan Growth Innovation and Leadership congress. Held for the first time in Asia Pacific, the congress attracted over 300 senior level delegates from across industries to come together at a single venue.

Yang Berhormat Datuk Maximus Ongkili, Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI), Malaysia delivered the keynote address at the congress.

Dato' Badlisham Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC), Malaysia was amongst the prominent speakers at the congress. (MSC Malaysia is the strategic partner for the congress).

"We are happy that Frost & Sullivan chose Kuala Lumpur as the first Asian city to host the Growth, Innovation & Leadership Congress," said Badlisham. "There is a growing belief that Malaysia is indeed ideally-placed as the gateway into the emerging economies of Asia and a preferred ICT hub".

Elaborating on CEO's perspective of growth in a complex business environment, Mr. David Frigstad, Chairman, Frost & Sullivan said that most business leaders are not satisfied with the current growth rate and would like to see an accelerated growth in their business.

"CEO's operate in a complex business environment and need a 360-degree overview of the business for making decisions. Through this powerful congress Frost & Sullivan will offer insights to grow and sustain business in the current economic environment, and seize opportunities for networking and forge new partnerships," Mr. Frigstad said.

The second day of the congress had five concurrent industry tracks namely- Aerospace & Defence, Transportation & Logistics, Energy & Environment, Healthcare and Information Communications & Technology.

Each track began with Frost & Sullivan expert presenting a 360-degree CEO perspective for the industry followed by a case study on a growth success story. Impact of technology in each sector to innovate and grow was another key topic of discussion at the industry concurrent tracks.

The summit concluded with the economic summit, which included hot topics on current economic climate with a review of regional economies, key tips and guidelines for global leadership, insights on corporate governance and an exclusive example of leadership in emerging markets. The results of Frost & Sullivan annual CEO survey on 'growth in today's economy' were also shared at the economic summit.

The congress featured panel discussions, case-studies, multiple tracks, break-out sessions, round tables and even instant ‘SMS-polls' spread over two days. With highly interactive sessions, the congress offered optimum opportunities to network, brainstorm and strike strategic partnerships. Current and relevant topic of discussions for Asia Pacific businesses such as, globalization of regional enterprises, the need of innovation for growth and the ‘green imperative' made the entire congress action-packed.

Computer Associates (CA) was the breakfast briefing partner, T-Systems was the gold partner and Citrix was the business track partner for the congress. MNC was the official technology partner and Toshiba the supporting partner while the corporate collateral partner was BizIT – MiniTab 15.

Beijing, China (October 20, 2008) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Dr. David Arnow, a tenured Computer Science Professor at Brooklyn College, City University of New York, has been invited by the Shanxi Branch of the Computer Science Federation (in association with the China Association of Science & Technology), Tsinghua Press and China's Computer Science Journal (Sponsored by the Committee of Higher Educational Computing Courses of the Ministry of Education) to facilitate 3 workshops on the merits of investing in and creating an interactive environment in the classroom. The workshops will be focused on how to introduce e-Learning tools into the traditional textbook based classroom.

The workshops will be held in Beijing November 8 at Tsinghua University, November 15 at Taiyuan University of Science and Technology, Shanxi province and Novmber 16 at FuZhou University, FuJian province. The attendants will include representatives from various branches of the Ministry of Education, University Deans and Computer Programming faculty seated in departments from various disciplines.

Professors of Universities from Shanxi province visited with Dr. Arnow earlier in the year as part of a 25 year long cooperative effort between Universities in Shanxi Province and The City University of New York (CUNY). "This visit really opened my eyes to the opportunity US Educational Institutions have at cooperating with our peers in the East in cultivating the minds of their 250 million students", Dr. Arnow went on to say "in the US we constantly our innovating new ways to motivate and maintain the attention of our students, where in China students can't get enough content to satisfy their immense hunger for knowledge".

China is rapidly developing the resources and means for its young elite to be exposed to Western learning concepts. Chinese Universities are being equipped with the latest in audio/visual aides and students have access to more bandwidth then most second tier cities in China seem to have. The investment made in education is evident not only in the growing number of students competing for placement in top tier universities, but also by the depth and breadth of educational tools they are being provided. The challenge today is not with funding education, but in assisting faculty how to take advantage of the educational tools they have been provided.

Dr. Arnow was the innovator of WebToTeach, now known as Codelab, and actively researches and publishes papers on cooperative learning using interactive media. Dr. Arnow's visit is being sponsored by Intelligent People Solutions (IPS), a Beijing based e-Learning solutions provider.
