Name changed to reflect expanded focus; “like a CES for OEMs”

Melville, NY, March 6, 2014 /Xinwengao.com/ - BZ Media LLC today announced a significant expansion of Wearables DevCon, the technical conference and expo for software developers, builders and designers of wearable computing devices. The announcement was made onsite today at the first Wearables DevCon, which blew through its projected 500 attendees with registrants exceeding 1,200.

The three-day conference and expo is moving to larger facilities in Santa Clara, which will allow for a greatly expanded exhibitor component, and will take place March 9-11, 2015. The umbrella event will go under the new name Wearables TechCon (www.WearablesTechCon.com), and the event will have a dual focus on the electronics OEMs and engineers (TechCon) and the software and app developers (DevCon).

“The Wearable Computing Device market continues to grow and capture the imagination of designers, engineers and developers. The wild success of Wearables DevCon pointed to a natural expansion of the electronics OEM aspect of our event, which was adequately represented in the Conference itself, but not reflected in the name. The name change of the umbrella event to Wearables TechConTM will allow the event to become like a CES® for OEMs and developers,” said Ted Bahr, President of BZ Media.

Wearables TechCon attendees will get practical answers as they roll up their sleeves and learn how to program the hardware and software behind the coming generation of wearable technology. Classes and tutorials in the TechCon tracks will focus on embedded computing, hardware design, sensors, and physical technology, while tracks in the DevCon portion will focus on programming apps and mastering the SDKs of the next wave of computing devices.

Wearables TechCon will expand its exhibitor program to meet with the demand to know what’s happening in this fast-moving space and what it means.

“Fifteen companies sponsored or exhibited at our inaugural event this week, and it’s clear that the interest in meeting with the movers and shakers in the exhibit hall is in great demand. We project attendance of more than 2,000 at Wearables TechCon 2015,” said Bahr.

Wearables TechCon focuses on the technology behind smartwatches, augmented reality products like Google Glass, and the healthcare and fitness devices that are becoming nearly ubiquitous today.

Juniper Research expects nearly 15 million wearable smart devices (including glasses, health and fitness monitors, and other devices) to be sold in 2013, amounting to $800 million, and nearly 70 million to be sold by 2017.

Wearables TechCon is produced by BZ Media LLC, which publishes SD Times, the magazine for the software development industry. BZ Media also produces AnDevCon, the world’s largest Android Developer conference; SPTechCon: The SharePoint Technology Conference; Big Data TechCon; and Cloud DevCon.
