Looking Forward to Energy Efficiency Asia 2008
Beijing, China (April 14, 2008) /China Newswire/ — With the challenge of climate change and the global energy shortage, energy-consuming enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region are actively adjusting their business strategies and adopting modern management sciences as well as new technologies to build high-energy-efficient, low-emission, sustainable developing green enterprises. In the next five years, Chinese investment in the field of energy saving and environmental protection will reach 300 billion US dollars, accounting for 30 percent of the world market. The investment for energy conservation will totally be 600 billion Yuan, with 50 percent funds from bank loans, and the financing market for energy conservation should be at least 300 billion Yuan. By 2020, the energy conservation potential of China's industrial enterprises is more than 300 million tons of standard coal, energy saving potential of industrial enterprises totaled 360 billion Yuan. According to the Ministry of Finance, National Development and Reform Commission, the central finance will arrange 7 billion Yuan to support the transformation of enterprises’ energy efficiency alteration.
Meanwhile, The "Kyoto Protocol" to the UNFCCC strengthens the international response to climate change. The developed countries commit themselves to reducing their collective emissions of six key greenhouse gases by at least 5%. For the other developing countries in Asia-Pacific region, the governments draw up strict plans to raise their energy efficiency. So the industrial enterprises in Asian-Pacific region are all searching for an effective method to raise their energy efficiency and reduce production cost in order to enhance their competitive advantage.
