<p>The Grand Millennium Beijing received the rating after a stringent 10-month audit by National Star Rating committee, the official accrediting body for hotels in China. <p>Ouka Leele, a prestigious Spanish female photographer with an art career dating back to the late 70's, ranks among the landmark figures of Europe as a contemporary of the American female artist Cindy Sherman. Ouka Leele participated into the new wave cultural movement La Movida, which began in Spain, especially in Madrid, during the 80s with the arrival of Democracy, and swept all over the European continent. Born in Madrid in 1957, Ouka Leele started painting when she was very young, always influenced by the Nature and the great masters from Museo del Prado. In 1976 she started her studies at Photocentro, an innovative photography school where you could glimpse the ideas that the young Spanish artists develop later in the 80s. Ouka Leele's universe has always been between two worlds, painting and photography, the earthly and the spiritual. When she was studying fine arts at university, she also began to study photography, and a strong way to express herself was revealed to her. Driven by the need of painting and the fascination with black and white photography, she fuses both techniques and develops her personal artistic language. <p>After one round of preliminary judging, 15 Accor hotels of different brands in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Morocco and the Netherlands were assessed by three tourist industry experts. The judges evaluated the depth of Accor's commitment both in terms of social and environmental sustainability initiatives, tested the level of awareness among employees and verified that action plans are widely shared across the Group and adapted to local situations.</p>

The judges were also very impressed with Accor's strong social outreach, including its willingness to address fundamental global health issues like HIV/AIDS prevention and to lead the fight against illegal exploitation of children for sex in certain tourist destinations."</p>
<p>The Earth Guest Program: A Daily Commitment from All Accor Teams Worldwide</p>

<p>Accor hotels serve fair trade products in 17 countries all over the world.</p>
<p>Since 2002, Accor has been involved in a large number of initiatives to eliminate sexual exploitation of children. Accor has signed the "Child Protection Code" created by the UNWTO and the ECPAT NGO in 34 countries which are leading active policies against this affliction. In 2009, 13,000 employees were trained in these countries to prevent this risk and ECPAT campaigns were displayed in the hotels to raise-awareness among our guests.</p>
<p>Accor is committed to combating epidemics through employee-awareness initiatives and results-oriented actions deployed worldwide. In 2007, Accor launched ACT-HIV, a global but locally adaptable approach to help hotel general managers conduct preventive programs against HIV/AIDS for their staff. In 2009, training sessions in disease prevention were held for 15,000 employees, particularly in Africa and Southeast Asia. In Thailand, 80% of employees have received training. </p>
<p>Accor has been a member of the Global Business Coalition to fight against HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis since 2006. The Group has also been a key supporter in the recent launch of the MassiveGood campaign which aims at raising funds against these diseases. Moreover, since 1998, Accor has been strongly committed to promoting renewable energies. To date, 99 hotels are equipped with solar panels to produce domestic hot water. Accor is working to improve waste management. Overall, 51% of owned and leased hotels now recycle paper, cardboard and glass.</p>
<p>In 2008, Accor worked with the IUCN, the world leading organization for the protection of biodiversity, to produce a guide for industry professionals, which details how individual hotels can make a real contribution to preserving biodiversity in their local area. For instance, over 850 Accor hotels serve organic products.</p>
<p>In 2008, in partnership with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Accor launched a new campaign to raise environmental awareness among guests by encouraging them to keep their towels for more than one night. The campaign's slogan is "5 towels reused = 1 tree planted." Half of the savings on hotel laundry costs are donated to seven reforestation projects around the world with the other half going to the hotel for training and incentive initiatives. To date, 1,000 hotels have financed the planting of one million trees worldwide. The goal is to finance the planting of three million trees by year-end 2012.<!--/body--></p>
