Beijing, China (June 29, 2010) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Following the success of the recent installation of U-Tron's LED Helios and LED Comet lights at Tim's Texas Barbecue, three more restaurants in Beijing are enjoying the energy savings and environmental benefits of LED lighting from U-Tron. The three restaurants are, La Pizza Restaurant, Biteapitta, and Indian Kitchen; all of which are in popular dining and entertainment areas of Beijing's Chaoyang District.

At La Pizza Restaurant in the Solana development by Chaoyang Park, U-Tron installed two Helios E27 warm white lamps and two Comets MR16 Spotlights in warm white. Vittoria Zhang, the manager of La Pizza says that customers have commented favorably on the new lights and like the idea that the restaurant is helping to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse emissions.

Biteapitta (Beijing Pitta Bakery) in the Tongli Building, in the Sanlitun nightlife district of Beijing is famed for its Middle Eastern style breads and snacks. Here U-Tron installed four Comet MR16 Spotlights in warm white. Avi at Biteapitta said, "The LED spotlights bring us two major advantages over the halogen lights we were using before. Firstly they run a lot cooler, which is an advantage when one is dealing with fresh foods. And secondly we expect them to last a lot longer, which means we will not have the constant hassle of swapping bulbs in awkward places."

At the popular Indian Kitchen restaurant in the north of Sanlitun U-Tron installed three LED Helios E27 warm white lights and two Comet MR16 Spotlights in warm white. General manager Movee D'souza is also very satisfied with the U-Tron LED lights. "When anyone asks about the LED lights I am very happy to recommend that they contact U-Tron." D'souza said.

About U-Tron's LED Helios and Comet Bulbs
The U-Tron LED Helios Series of E27 light bulbs uses high power LEDs to bring energy savings and a healthy light to your home or workplace. They can be easily retrofitted to virtually any lamp that uses E27 lamp holders, use on average a fifth of the power of an incandescent bulb and have a life span of up to 50,000 hours, the equivalent of up to 50 incandescent bulbs through out its life-span. They range in brightness from the equivalent of a 40-watt incandescent bulb to 100-watt equivalent.

U-Tron's MR16 Comet 3 light bulbs can be retrofitted to virtually any light fitting that takes a bulb with an MR16 base. They are ideal for display illumination and general lighting purposes. Unlike halogen bulbs they generate very little heat and no UV light. They are not sensitive to variations in voltage, which can cause early failure to halogen bulbs.

Both LED Helios and MR16 Comet 3 light bulbs are made from 100% recyclable materials, are virtually unbreakable in ordinary use, contain no toxic materials and are fully compliant with CE and RoHS standards.

Singapore (May 10, 2010) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Neoedge Pte. Ltd. recently announced plans of bringing in more telecom related events and expanding operations in the Middle East and North Africa in line with its vision to become Asia's top conference producer of Telecom Events. At an interview during the formal launch of its third telecom event in Asia, Neoedge's Project Manager and SPEX Head Vida Paz said her company's plans to produce summits, trainings and workshops in the MENA region will be coming in the next five to six months.

"We hope to become the Telecom Conference of choice for the telecommunications world by offering the newest products and conference formats with the ample opportunity for learning, discussing and networking," said Paz.

Neoedge has chosen Singapore as its corporate headquarters in the Asia-Pacific region, where it plans to further grow operations in countries like South Africa, Japan and Dubai while maintaining its established presence in China and other parts of the region.

"Neoedge aims to fast track its investments in facilities, technologies and people," said Paz during a brief presentation during the launch.

The new location of the corporate office at Commerce Point Building at Raffles Place, Singapore was chosen because of its goal of expanding the company and likewise be at the central business district of the Lion City.

Notably, the third Telecom Event: Mobile Cloud Computing ASIA 2010 unveiled is one of the company's most comprehensive product, having a line up of unequalled speakers and panelists. It also has a very interesting Pre-Conference Workshop to be led by Orange Scape and in collaboration with Microsoft, Google and Amazon Web Services. The conference will happen on the 14th-15th July at Carlton Hotel, Singapore and is sponsored by vCirrus Australia. For more information, please visit http://www.mobilecloudcomputingasia.com/

Paz also disclosed details about other future conventions and workshops on SS7 and SIGTRAN in the MENA Region, but assured that Neoedge has been actively researching for other potential locations, including the United Kingdom, and would likely produce a new one before 2011.

Neoedge, which began operations in Singapore in 2008, currently has half a hundred active employees. Already, several slots in its new office are set to be occupied by incoming sales agents, marketing managers and conference producers. Recruitment, however, is still ongoing.

Paz was keen to point out that Neoedge emphasizes a learning culture built around simplicity aimed at fostering the professional growth of its employees. She pointed out that her current position as Project Manager for Telecom events came in only months after she joined as a senior sales executive, adding that such a case was not unusual in the company.

Beijing, China (May 06, 2010) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Tim's Texas Barbecue, a popular restaurant and entertainment venue in Beijing's central business district, is benefiting from the recent installation of U-Tron's LED Helios and LED Comet lights, and so is the environment.

Helios bulbs were used to replace the original incandescent lights over the restaurants bar and MR16 LED Comet track lights to illuminate stock behind the bar. One benefit of the new lights became immediately apparent to both the staff at Tim's and their customers. The Helios and Comet lights provide a steady and bright illumination where required, however the light does not spill over to other areas and thus the cozy and intimate ambiance of the restaurant is maintained in the late evening. The low energy consumption of LED lighting is helping to reduce the restaurants power bills and its carbon footprint.

Tim Hilbert, the owner of Tim's Texas Barbecue is enthusiastic about the benefits that LED lighting can bring. "For an operation such as mine that does much of its business at night the energy costs associated with lighting are a significant charge on our business. To be able to reduce these costs and benefit the environment, while maintaining the standard of our service to our customers is a win-win-win situation."

Energy savings are not the only benefit that Tim foresees LED lighting bringing to his business. "Every time we have to change a light bulb there is a labor cost and disruption to our business and inconvenience to our customers. Some lights are in very difficult places to reach, for example over the stairwell. The extremely long life cycle of these LED light bulbs is a significant benefit to us. And, of course, the fact that they contain no mercury and are 100% recyclable is a definite plus."

Singapore (April 27, 2010) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — No bills, no marketing collateral. Just you and your mobile. The reason why 85% of Indian Telco customers are on pre-paid could simply be convenience. India has about 17 mobile providers who cater to approximately 550 million subscribers. China on the other hand has 3 mobile providers catering to approximately 750 million subscribers.

Malcolm Logan, CEO of Opraxe International, believes that based on the above statistic there are different market opportunities and challenges faced by operators as well as different approaches they need to take to address these issues: "India is far more competitive and focused on addressing and creating marketable prepaid segments to drive growth. These include the micro markets and balance dollar spend approach on each. Indian operators have almost stopped looking at ARPU as a performance measure. They tend to address the market as organizations that sells "minutes" – so to do that you need to know what the minutes cost and how much you can make (in a competitive market) from these minutes."

The issues facing prepaid mobile in North Asia will be discussed June 22 – 23, 2010, in Radisson Hotel Pudong Century Park, Shanghai, at the Prepaid Mobile North Asia 2010 conference. Participants from around the region will look at the issues facing this mobile sector.

Logan continues: "The challenges for the Telco's then are to focus on specific and yet to be addressed market segments that will return value back to them, while not cannibalizing their existing segments – and on the other hand, improving their already defined market segments with creative and relevant product options and capabilities to maintain and grow their position.

"China on the other hand was a market that developed in a different fashion. Competitive offers and marketing campaigns were not at the forefront of their thinking when they started as they had a captive market where consumers simply wanted a mobile phone – any phone, any product, any service. Demand simply outstripped the need for carefully crafted retention and loyalty mechanisms. To an extent it still does, however, activity in retaining customers is now coming to the forefront – especially with the increasing number of providers that will come into the market over time, so I expect to see some specific agreements, features and network expansion taking place," said Logan.

According to Logan, consumers in both countries will continue to, and expand their use, of prepaid offerings not only for communications, but also bill paying, micro-payments for goods and services and such like. Operators who have the right thinking, information available and understanding of the evolving behavioral aspects of consumers will relish the opportunity.

Gareth Kentish, Director of International Sale, Telecoms, Hansen Group sums it up perfectly. In emerging markets, pre-pay is the norm and churn is generally high with modest ARPU. Competition for 'land-grab' is rife.

"In both mature & emerging markets, pre-pay is essential to build the base and to ultimately cross-sell with VAS. Increasing ARPU by extension of portfolio is effective for an affluent customer base. The objective is to create the "sticky customer". Consider automated top-ups, transparency of call details, family accounts, even combining pre/post-pay services, set-up loyalty and reward schemes. Know your customer-base – introduce dynamic discounting," he said.

Leading Operators From Asia, US And Europe Meet In Singapore On March 8th–9th At Femtocells Asia 2010 To Review The Latest Femtocell Deployments, Products, Applications And Services.

Bath, England (February 11, 2010) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — With the recent announcement by China Unicom of femtocell launches in various provinces in China, with Softbank and NTT DoCoMo announcing femtocell deployments and trials in Japan, and Starhub launching their HomeZone service in Singapore, there is growing momentum for other APAC operators, manufacturers and applications developers to quickly enter the femtocell marketplace.

For most mobile operators this technology is now seen as an opportunity to gain market share for their brands, increase their foot print in the home or office and reduce operating costs in their networks. With the prospect of greatly improved home coverage, super high data rates, and a consumer expectation of much cheaper (perhaps free) bundled calls, femtocells are hot property and many see a huge first mover advantage for an operator that gains a foothold and potentially consolidate the families' or corporates' mobile phone allegiance to their brand, network and content.

For the existing network providers, such as Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, Huawei, ZTE, Motorola, Alacatel-Lucent etc, femtocells could easily be the highest volume basestation product they will ever manufacture, but at the same time perhaps of lowest value and lowest margin.

The mainstream in-home WiFi router providers, Thompson, Netgear, Cisco, etc are beginning to view femtocells as simply a value add to their own router boxes which already take pride of place in the home and many do not like the idea of the cellular network specialist getting in on the act.

Analysts following this community are working hard to tie down the business case, potential volumes, consumer reactions and timescales but this has not stopped a flurry of reports on femtocells being published to try and give a steer to the industry.

Event Information: http://www.avrenevents.com/femtocellsasia2010.

The Femtocells Asia 2010 conference, in exclusive partnership with the Femto Forum, will bring the latest updates from these deployments together with news of new trials world-wide, the most recent analysis of market size and timeframe from leading analysts, the current state of play with standards, as well as presentations and exhibits from the major femtocell vendors and manufacturers.

Other events in the series include the Femtocells World Summit 2010 in London in June, and Femtocell Americas 2010 in USA in December. The Femtocells World Series in 2009 was attended by over 700 delegates from 35 countries (including 39 global operators).

Shanghai, China (February 04, 2010) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Residents and visitors to four of China's biggest cities can now access subway maps on their mobile phones. ExploreMetro has created an interactive map of the Shanghai Metro for iPhone and iPod touch called 'Explore Shanghai', which is already ranked in the top 10 travel apps in the iTunes App Store. There are also apps for the Beijing Subway, Guangzhou Metro and Hong Kong MTR.

Commuters welcomed the news. Black Qin, rides the Shanghai metro to get to work, and also to reach other parts of the city to meet friends. "Having a metro map on my phone is really useful especially with the new lines which have opened up in Shanghai. Now I never miss the last train home!"

The British founder of ExploreMetro, University of Cambridge graduate Matt Mayer predicted: "2010 will see both the rapid growth of smartphones such as Apple's iPhone and Google's Android-powered devices, together with the fast expansion of metro networks for the Shanghai World Expo and Guangzhou Asian Games. Our apps, available in Chinese and English, meet this need."

Interactive maps on mobile phones can be automatically updated, unlike paper maps which quickly become out of date. The apps include a route-planner, allowing subway riders to calculate the time and price of a journey, and even work without an internet connection. ExploreMetro's apps are priced at USD0.99, with the Beijing and Guangzhou apps available for free until February 7th at ExploreMetro's website.

Hanoi, Vietnam (January 18, 2010) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — Mobile phone usage in Vietnam is big and getting bigger. From pre-teens to over-60s, it seems everyone in Vietnam has a mobile phone, or even two. In fact, mobile phone ownership in Vietnam is far higher than that of developing neighbors; 74 percent of people in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi own a mobile; over half (58 percent) of the urban population and a third (37 percent) in rural areas. That's quite an astonishing figure when compared to China and India, two countries developing at a rapid pace.

Vietnamese consumers are resilient and despite the global economic crisis, they remain relatively positive. Vietnam consumers are ranked the 9th most confident worldwide, according to a recent Global Consumer Confidence study released.

The Vietnam Mobile & Broadband International Summit 2010 will be held March 25-26, 2010, in Hanoi. This is a great opportunity to learn about some of the following areas: Key Development initiatives for Telecommunications sector in Vietnam; Current state of play for foreign partners and qualitative methods; Local specific case studies for Value Added Services;3G optimization strategies; Case Examples from mature markets in Europe & Asia; Pricing Strategies; Technology perspectives & developments : Wimax vs LTE vs SAT; Finance & Investment opportunities explored; Mobile / Carrier Applications stores lifecycle planning.
